Me

I have been in the welding industry for 30 years now; the first 27 as a welder, the last 3 as a welding inspector.

Welder, fabricator, welding inspector, welding trainer and consultant, freelance writer, artist and inventor, I created this blog to share my ideas about the welding trade, the issues we face and what to do about them going forward. I use my study of history and philosophy to present ideas for the consideration of any and all who may be open to a discussion about craftsmanship and the issues surrounding it. Mission

My mission and purpose in creating this blog page is to help bridge the gap that too often exists between labor and management. I want to help managers who struggle to understand how to find, hire and keep good welders. I want to help welders who struggle with managers who have very little understanding of how to properly manage welding operations. I want to discuss issues that affect the trade; namely the skills gap and shortage of skilled welders. I will discuss philosophical ideas and explore commonly held beliefs in an attempt to help restore a focus on quality workmanship.
