Many people love to wax eloquent with the safe distance of 80 some odd years of history and 3,000 plus miles of ocean between us and the horrors of World War II and say things like, “well that could never happen here. I would have stood up and said something.”
The events of the last few years, ever since the outbreak of the COVID pandemic, offer us proof positive of the fallacy of this cheap, virtue signaling nonsense. If you are the type who went along with the lockdowns, mask-mandates and vaccine requirements, if you got a little charge from having the power and authority to tell someone to put a mask on and, especially if you took a little added glee in rebuking and informing on those of us who did not unquestioningly go along, then you now know exactly on which side you would have come down on.
My company owner asked me to take the vaccine during COVID and I said absolutely not. Nothing happened. The job site I worked on asked me to provide proof of vaccination & I said no. Nothing happened. I was told I could not wear a neck buff and must wear a N95 mask. I refused and said they can fire me if need be. Nothing happened. Welders cannot be easily replaced, especially if the job is on a short dead line. The one with the skills holds the power.
